Our approach

How AgentLocal helps AI understand local businesses

AgentLocal does not sell or guarantee rankings in ChatGPT or other AI assistants. Here is what we actually do — and what we honestly measure.

The problem we solve

AI assistants use information from many sources when answering questions about local businesses. Businesses with incomplete, inconsistent, outdated or difficult-to-access information may be harder for these systems to identify and describe accurately.

AgentLocal creates and maintains a structured, publicly accessible record of a business using information that can be verified from public sources. We make this information available in formats designed to be readily accessible to both people and machines, while preserving links to the underlying sources and recording when information was checked.

What AgentLocal is — and is not

AgentLocal does not guarantee that an AI assistant will recommend or cite your business. AI assistants independently determine their answers. Our role is to measure your visibility, identify gaps in the public information available about your business, improve the quality and accessibility of that information, and measure whether your visibility changes over time.

AgentLocal is intended to complement — not replace — a business’s own website, Google Business Profile and other reputable third-party sources. Your own online presence remains the foundation. We strengthen the ecosystem around it.

  • We do not control how AI assistants rank or select businesses. No one outside those platforms can guarantee placement.
  • We do not sell placement, sponsored ranking, or “AI SEO” packages that promise guaranteed results.
  • We do build verifiable, structured records that make it easier for AI systems to find, understand, and accurately describe your business.

What the managed service actually does

The managed service is a repeating cycle of measurement, improvement, and re-measurement. AgentLocal performs this work — you approve changes and keep your own sources accurate.

This is not a dashboard where we tell you what’s wrong and you fix it yourself. The measurement, gap identification, source improvements, structured publishing and re-testing are performed by AgentLocal as part of the service.

1. Audit and baseline

We define a set of customer-style queries relevant to your business, then run them through supported AI assistants and record the answers. This gives you a measured baseline: how often you appear, what competitors appear instead, and which sources are cited.

2. Identify information gaps

We compare the information available about your business against the queries consumers actually ask. Where details are missing, inconsistent, outdated or difficult for machines to access, we flag them — ranked by how often the gap affects real queries.

3. Improve the underlying sources

This is where the actual work happens. Depending on the gap, we:

  • Fix missing or inconsistent information on your website
  • Add structured data (schema markup) so machines can read your details
  • Update your Google Business Profile and correct third-party listings
  • Create or improve content that answers the questions customers are asking
  • Set up booking integrations so AI systems can connect customers to your services

Every change is recorded as a dated, auditable intervention — so you can see exactly what was done and when.

4. Publish in AI-readable formats

Your confirmed details appear on your AgentLocal profile page, an AI-readable version of that page, and the site’s llms.txt index — accessible to assistants, APIs and MCP clients. This complements your own website, not replaces it.

5. Retest and measure the change

We re-run the same queries on a regular schedule and compare the results against your baseline. You see whether mentions, citations and accuracy are changing — with the counts behind every percentage, and no claim that a mention proves we caused it.

How we measure AI visibility

We repeatedly test relevant consumer queries across supported AI systems and record what we observe. This gives you an honest picture of where you stand and whether things are improving.

Business mentions
Whether your business was mentioned in AI answers to relevant local queries.
Position and context
Where your business appeared in the answer and in what context it was described.
Competitor presence
Which competitors were mentioned alongside or instead of your business.
Sources cited
Which websites and sources were cited or linked in the answer.
Accuracy
Whether important business information — hours, services, location — was answered correctly.
Change over time
How all of these measurements shift as we improve your information ecosystem.

Honest about what the data means

A mention or citation does not prove that AgentLocal caused an AI recommendation. AI systems and their ranking and retrieval methods change, and identical questions can produce different answers. We therefore measure repeated observations rather than claiming guaranteed placement.

  • Every percentage shows the count behind it.
  • Unmeasured areas are labelled unmeasured, never scored as zero.
  • Commercial plans do not change organic ordering or measurement.
  • Private prompts and raw data are never published.

Our objective

Our objective is to increase the amount, quality, consistency and accessibility of verifiable information about a business across the web — and measure whether that corresponds with improved AI visibility.

We believe the businesses that AI systems can find, trust and cite most accurately are the ones with the best underlying information — not the ones that pay the most for a listing.
